Based on the Baja Beetle from the 80/90’s, this new Twisted Special Project named the TBug, is our modern interpretation of another iconic vehicle. Taking inspiration from the heady surf models of the 1980s, the TBug is another analogue drivers vehicle to re-engage man and machine and promote fun behind the wheel.
Finished in Bahama gold, this is a boldly unique one off. With this being a donor vehicle from California as a 1969 body, it felt only right to try something so cool and being left hand drive, its ready to head back across the pond. Stripped back to bare metal and rebuilt from the ground up, every panel tells the story of meticulous restoration. The signature Baja bodywork conversion works in perfect harmony with uprated long-travel suspension, Baja Gloss Black wheels, and chunky BF Goodrich all-terrain tyres. The result? Effortlessly cool retro attitude.
The exposed engine through the cutaway tailgate isn’t just for show – it’s a statement. LED headlights cut through darkness while subtle Twisted stripes hint at heritage without shouting about it. Classic meets contemporary, exactly as it should be.
Step inside and the story continues. Saddle Brown leather wraps every surface, including a pair of period style bucket seats for both comfort and an authentic look. Our Twisted Classic wooden steering wheel feels right in your hands, while the custom gear shifter and door furniture complete the picture. Even the DAB and Bluetooth head unit fits in seamlessly – modern convenience disguised in period-correct styling.
The final product is one that doesn’t make sense to use every day but every time you hang the keys up you’ll want to reach for them again tomorrow.
